Vtiger CRM as a provider of SaaS and open source CRM solutions run a partner program for resellers and solution providers.
Going back 10+ years in the technology sector vendor partnership accreditation’s were something that partners had to work hard (usually sales people, consultants, developers, support teams all needed to be trained and certified. Implementations were regularly checked and partner performance was monitored on a regular basis to ensure quality standards were high and customer expectations were being met), to obtain and were typically based on mutually beneficial win/win relationships which was good for both parties and ultimately for the end customer.
Today, whilst Vtiger ask for details of two customer implementations with a minimum value of approx £1,500/$2,000 (so low that any partner is able to meet the requirement!) the main requirement is based on the partner having to buy a partner level. Vtiger offer two partner levels ‘Solution Partner’ which costs partners $3,000 per year and ‘Certified Solution Partner’ which costs $6,000 per year.
Solution Partners get a listing in Vtigers partner directory and a link to their website, Certified Solution Partners get a listing in the partner directory, they can upload their logo and also receive a link to their website.
In our opinion the Vtiger CRM partner program offers little more than paid advertising for partners and a place where customers can find a small percentage of companies who work with Vtiger.
Vtiger CRM related services (process improvement, implementation, customization, new modules, advanced workflows, data migration, integration, user training, administrator training, hosting, support etc) account for 40% of our companies total revenue and we probably have the largest teams of Vtiger CRM specialists in the UK/Europe (with an international customer base) so naturally we have looked at and considered this as an option.
After a lot of consideration we decided not to ‘buy a partnership’ level for several reasons. Firstly there is no mutually beneficial win/win relationship where the vendor and partner are working together to support the end customer we would simply be a ‘partner customer’ of Vtiger, secondly and most importantly the accreditation wouldn’t be meaningful/credible to end customers which makes it completely meaningless and thirdly $3,000 or $6,000 is a lot of money for a basic directory listing.
To date not a single one of our customers (startups, small/medium/mid-market businesses, Not-for-profit, Associations, Institutes) in the UK, Europe, Germany, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, South Africa have ever asked us if we are a Vtiger Partner.
As things stand we don’t see any benefits in becoming a Vtiger CRM Partner either to benefit our customers or from our own perspective.
